Crazy Weather at the Circle Crazy S Ranch

The weather this winter has been absolutely bonkers!!  The entire winter had major swings, 80 degrees one day, 40 the next, snow one day and rain the next.

It sure is cold out here!!

It has been a dry winter but we have had worse.  We just wish the temperature could make up it's mind.

You looking at me?

Spring seems to be here.  Things are starting to bud. Our Narcissus (or Paper Whites) are really blooming and smelling great!

Lining both sides of our front walk.

But no matter what, our indoor animals are always comfy!

We hope this spring finds you healthy and happy no matter what the weather!

First day of school!

Well not much happening on the ranch.  It has been hot and dry.  We had to get rid of some livestock because it is just too expensive feed them all.  We are down to 1 cow, 1 calf, and the neighbor's horse.  Hopefully we will start getting some rain so we can get some more cattle.

The boys started back to school today.  Chris begins his junior year with some hard classes ahead of him.  Andy returns to college.  He hopes to finish up junior college by next summer and attend a university in the following fall.

BRRR!!!

Well old man winter arrived last night with falling temps and major winds.  It is in the 30s now, but thankfully the wind has calmed down. Tonight's low is forecast to reach the 20s. We received some much needed rain on Monday & Tuesday. The stock tanks and lakes are still down so we could use more precipitation.  Well time to get the show on the road.  Hope your New Year is going well.

Ringing in the New Year

We rang in the new year with family and friends and are looking forward to a great year!  The weather is mild for this time of year, but the forecast says that in 2 weeks that is going to change. We wish everyone a great 2012 and may God's blessings pour down on you.

Confusing Weather!

The weather has been crazy lately.  One day we are in short sleeves, the next we are in winter coats, and then the next we are back into short sleeves and shorts!  We are just praying for RAIN!!  We need it desperately no matter the temperature.  We had to get rid of our horse and sell most of the cattle.  Can't afford to feed them because hay prices have gone up so much.  Other than that not much happening.

HOT!!!!!

Can you say HOT!!! We have had triple digits and no rain for too long now.  The pastures are brown and we have to buy hay for the animals.  We got into one of our vehicles after it was park at our church all day.  The thermometer read 121 degrees, but cooled down to 115 degrees on the mile ride home!!!! Please God we need rain and lower temps!

Damage

Well, upon walking the property we found one more tree down, one HUGE limb that miraculously missed landing on our aluminum boat, and another LARGE limb that didn't miss the back of our "barn" (the building we use to hold our tractors). More storms last night produce no new damage, thank God.

The roof guy came out today and said that our house roof has some hail damage, but not enough for the insurance to cover, and the barn roof may meet or slightly exceed our insurance deductible.  So, he is going to write up a quote and let us know.  The next decision is whether it is worth turning into the insurance company or not.

STORMS!

Boy the storms rolled through here last night!  There was damage in Pilot Point, but thank God we were spared any major damage. How we needed that rain though!  Our stock tank and pastures were very grateful.
